The electricity act protects Eskom. Before 1994. And after 1994. Yet, the Electricity White Paper of 1998 and the Renewable Energy White Paper of 2003 (the subject of this video) show that this was meant to change by 2010, where 30% of electricity production was meant to be in private hands by 2010. Note that I believe that if this had happened, Eskom would be twice the size (in electricity production) that it is now, that it would be closer to 90% efficiency, rather than 60% efficiency, and we would have a vibrant, energetic, economy. Someone, somewhere needs to force our government to change the electricity laws to fit in with the White Papers. White Papers are Government Strategy Documents. I cannot do it.
